About you
You will be educated to Graduate level and / or have applicable work experience as follows:
Officer Intelligence Analyst - e.g. data analysis and report writing though not necessarily intelligence
Higher Officer Intelligence Analyst and Higher Officer Intelligence Analyst Team Leader - ideally have a degree and intelligence background - though we will consider other experience providing the competencies are directly transferable.
We are also looking for you to enjoy and be good at understanding and solving problems, working with others, communicating effectively and taking the initiative. Additionally for the team leader posts, you will have managing and leading skills. To understand more about the roles, look through the case studies written by members of the team and look at the full definition of the Behaviour Skills & Abilities - BSAs that you will need to demonstrate to a high level in order to work in Intelligence Analysis.
But it’s not just about what you can bring to us; Intelligence Analysis (IA) with HMRC is committed to Continuous Personal Development (CPD) for analysts at all levels. Our commitment is apparent in the focussed training you benefit from during the Specialist Trail Period (STP) of six months. Furthermore, you are allocated a Practical Training Officer (PTO) who is an analyst of equivalent grade to act as a mentor and coach during this time. During this time, your manager will maintain an overview of your progress and will join forces with your PTO to ensure you are given appropriate work and opportunities to apply your newly developed skills. Once the STP is complete, your manager will seek to continue your development by coaching and supporting you. You will also be the type of person who enjoys being proactive with your development, keen to find and to take opportunities to do this.
